When planet earth is threatened by a newly awakened enemy, Bruce Wayne begins to recruit a new team with the help of Diana Prince. Working together, Batman and Wonder Woman form a team of heroes who may or may not be ready to prevent this apocalyptic attack.
Now I know very little about the world of superheroes, so I take these films at face value with next to no knowledge about the heroes and their origins/stories. Even though I wasn’t very excited about this, I knew I was going to like it because of the wonderful Gadot as Wonder Woman. After the huge successes of the Wonder Woman film earlier this year I was very excited to see more of her. In addition to this I was ready to see The Flash in action portrayed by the one and only Ezra Miller who I also love.
This film was not the most exciting of films and the plot was just fine, not boring but not mind blowing. The teamwork was the key to this film and that kept it going for me personally. The sfx were on point and it looked good, I especially enjoyed Aquaman’s underwater scenes and anytime The Flash was on the move. The score was another good feature, adding to the excitement of the numerous fight scenes!
There was definitely an attempt to make this film funnier and light-hearted and I felt that sometimes this worked really well, but at times it was a little bit cringe and awkwardly placed. The characters of this film while all different enough, were sometimes rushed in, there wasn’t enough time to give each character a proper introduction into the film. For someone who can’t claim to be a huge fan of DC comics, I would have liked to have learnt more about The Flash and Cyborg.
I want to touch upon cast performances and have to give special credit to Ezra Miller who brought wit and charm to The Flash. His constant look of awe around the other superheroes and his naivety was adorable to watch, a personal favourite and standout. Another credit has to be given to Gal Gadot (despite her problematic opinions on the IDF) is standout, it’s so important to have a female superhero kicking ass alongside male counterparts; a true pleasure to see her in action and practically leading the team! The only thing about this cast that bothered me was Ben Affleck; despite my dislike for Batman as a superhero (being rich is his power??) I just can’t deal with Affleck’s annoying voice choice.
My overall verdict is that if you enjoy action/superhero films then this is one for you, it’s not lacking in super human abilities or action!

Generally speaking I don’t particularly enjoy superhero movies, but I thought I’d give this a shot seeing as it’s one of the big releases this month and it doesn’t just feature one superhero. I can understand why this genre of movie brings in a big crowd, the intricate fight scenes, the cool superpowers, the bright and brilliant costumes however the one thing Justice League lacked was with its storyline. Frankly, the plot was one dimensional, predictable and boring. I will add that I have little knowledge on the back stories of each character. I don’t even think it mattered that I didn’t know the ins and outs of Aquaman’s life, the storyline is spoon fed to you anyway.
I do have to think of something positive to write about this movie, so I will say that visually it is pretty spectacular. No, I’m not just talking about Wonder Woman. You can’t fault the special effects and the whole ‘look’ of the movie. It’s certainly a 21st century movie, where I can imagine it was mostly shot in front of a green screen. I will also give a special mention to Ezra Miller who plays The Flash - he quickly made the role his own and was extremely likeable. Also shoutout to Amy Adams who plays the most irrelevant part ever, but did appreciate her screen time.
I would not recommend going to see Justice League unless you’re really into superhero movies, which in that case you’ve probably already seen it. But for everyone else, I’d avoid at all costs. Save yourself from this borefest of a film. You’re welcome in advance.
