Michael is on his commute home, a journey he's taken daily for a long time, but one encounter changes his journey. After a brief conversation with a stranger, he has to find a passenger on the train. As time ticks on, he begins to realise the consequences of his actions. Soon all the passengers find themselves wrapped up in the mystery.

I gave this one such a high review purely because I'm a huge fan of the genre, it's nothing original or new and if you want to watch something like this I would recommend 'Source Code' which is incredibly similar but much, much better.

Liam Neeson obviously was great as this is the only role that he has really pinned down so he is obviously very good at it. The rest of the supporting cast were great too, no one was really introduced long enough or given enough of a backstory to comment too much on performance. Like Rebecca I enjoyed the elimination and fast-paced introduction of new characters all the time. The plot is decent, like I've said not particularly original but it works well enough, some of the bigger twists were predictable

There were a few personal highlights for me, the first being the opening montage of Mike (Neeson) travelling to work, cutting from season to season and outfit to outfit, to show that he is a well seasoned commuter. I also enjoyed the credits being shown as train lines with all the names being put on like stops on different lines, something simple but a nice touch.

That's all there is too say really, I would personally recommend watching some of the bigger awards releases before catching this one.

So I’m back after a few weeks and it felt great to be back at the cinema. After reading Leanne’s reviews so far this year, its given me the impression that this year will be a good one for motion picture. However I can’t say that about ‘The Commuter’ unfortunately.

It’s a shame that Liam Neeson is such a one dimensional actor, and only has roles in this genre of films. I feel like its a total rip-off of films like ‘Phone Booth’, (which is a far better movie) The whole plot was way to farfetched for me and entirely unbelievable, and for the most part it was fairly predictable too. Some of the major plot twists were hinted at throughout the movie so it was easy to catch on what was about to happen. Also it took too long for it to be revealed of the reason why Mike (Neeson) had to find this one person on this commuter train. It just wasn’t all that complex and complicated for my liking.

I do normally enjoy this type of genre movie, especially as it does keep you guessing for the most part. I liked the when Mike had to eliminate people on the train, constantly introducing new characters and instantly having to try to work them out in a few seconds.

Sorry for the short review but there really isn't all that much to say about this film. There is definitely better releases out so I would bypass this one and go and see something else. Im sure this one isn't going to end up on any awards nomination lists.
