Courageous caveman Dug and his hog sidekick are not ready to go down without a fight. When Lord Nooth and his bronze age posse arrive and try to take over their simple home, Dug and his people unite in an attempt to beat the enemy.

Having seen this trailer a number of times (playing at almost every film I've been to see recently) I am the first to admit that I wasn't overly bothered about seeing this one. Don't let the trailer put you off, it is definitely worth your time, if nothing but support the underrated art of stop motion. Animators slave over this work and spend weeks making mere seconds of the film.

While the format is nothing new, an underdog sports team take on the reining champs; there is something quite charming about Dug and his team of neanderthals. The message of teamwork is also something that is a well tested trope that is always a success especially a target audience of kids. There are some great jokes throughout the whole film and a few great Easter eggs along the way, one of my favourites being the beetle razor joke from 'The Flintstones.'

The casting of this film is wonderful an all-British cast with stars like Eddie Redmayne, Maisie Williams, Richard Ayoade, Miriam Margolyes and more, I could go on and on. My personal voice acting favourites were Rob Brydon who played both the commentators which is an amazing cast because he is absolutely hilarious. My other favourite was the voice of Johnny Vegas who makes the perfect voice for a dopey caveman called Asbo.

For a film that I wasn't overly bothered about watching I am very glad that I did! My final mention goes to the great representation of female characters which even in animated film is so, so important.
