Peter Rabbit and his sisters love wasting their days in Mr McGregor's vegetable garden. But when a new relative turns up, he is not impressed at the family of rabbits that live in his new home. A battle soon breaks out and the new owner hatches schemes to get rid of Peter Rabbit who proves to be a tricky tenant.
A definite adversary to Paddington in terms of British kids films. I think Paddington just steals the lead, as it is so charming but Peter Rabbit is a great film inspired by Beatrix Potter's famous works. The script was very good and there were plenty of jokes and puns thrown in for the adults in the cinema with a good balance of appeal for kids. I loved the scenery in the countryside and the tour of London landmarks by Aesop's own Town Mouse.
The cast are strong, both actors and the voice actors. I loved Rose Byrne as the charming next door neighbour Bea who loved painting and looking after the local wildlife, she was just an all-round lovely person and I thought she played the role very well. Similarly Domhnall Gleeson was great as the rather unpleasant Mr. McGregor, but his character development arc was one that I really enjoyed despite knowing it would happen. As for the voice actors James Corden was an excellent choice, his voice is so immediately recognisable and is cheeky enough for a character like Peter. Similarly Margot Robbie as the adorable Flopsy Bunny with a lisp was another great cast.
The only real problem that I had was that on occasion it tried a little bit too hard to be funny and different from the source material, sometimes it was a little much but in general that jokes were on the mark and the overall result was that it was cheeky, cheesy and cute. I also felt that the CGI makes the stories lose their more iconic look but with the 21st Century that is so often the way. Overall this is another memorable film.

Peter Rabbit is not surprisingly a brilliant movie. Inspired and based on Beatrix Potter's iconic stories. The story was simple and well executed, another fabulous British animation of a true classic. It must be so difficult acting and engaging with characters who aren't physically there so when Domhnall Gleeson and Rose Byrne were filming it probably came with some challenges. If there were it did not translate onto screen, the delivery was smooth and seamless.
The rabbits themselves were so adorable lead by Peter with James Cordon as the voice actor. He was a cheeky, mischievous character who always brought an element of comedy. He was the leader of the family as their parents had passed - and took it upon himself to provide the rest of the rabbits with food from the neighbouring garden. Running and weaving out of the way of traps that had been set, Peter was starting to become cocky and with a new tenant it became more tricky to escape without being caught. The rest of the voice cast were amazing, especially Margot Robbie who spoke for Flopsy. Who was personally my favourite character, so so adorable.
This is a great movie if you're looking for something easy to watch but still full of story, laughs and entertainment. Such a fun family watch and would be worth your time if you're thinking of catching it on the big screen.
