Where on earth have we been?!

After taking just over a year off from writing film reviews, we’ve decided to make a comeback when the cinemas eventually reopen after the corona lockdown! We’re not sure when exactly that will be but when they reopen, we’ll be back with our reviews on a slightly different scale. So, keep your eyes peeled!

Leanne:

I know a lot of people asked what happened with the blog after our sudden disappearance. We started the blog before my teaching training year and reviewing every film that I was seeing at the cinema was becoming a struggle for me. It got to the point where I was trying to balance a work life, a social life and seeing and reviewing an average of 6 (sometimes more) films a week and this was incredibly hard to, successfully, juggle. Eventually, I got to the summer holidays and found that I had over 28 reviews backlogged to review and I then stopped enjoying my trips to the cinema because I knew I had this overwhelming list of films to review. After taking this break from writing reviews and completing my NQT year, I’ve had time to remember how much I enjoy writing films reviews and after speaking to Rebecca, we have thought about how to keep this blog more manageable for both of us. 

Both:

We are going to be bringing the blog back on a scale of one review a week. This may vary throughout the year, for example awards season may lead to a few more reviews being released! These reviews may be different depending on what our favourite films of the week have been but are hopefully going to be the same, enjoyable content our readers enjoyed!

Rebecca:

This has been a long time coming, the blog is something that we love doing and the only reason that we took this unplanned hiatus was the we put too much pressure on ourselves to review every single film that we saw and juggling full time jobs and life just took over and happened and unfortunately the blog took a back seat. 

Since that moment, we have kind of discussed a revival, but I feel like this is the perfect time to hit the restart button. With the cinemas being shut for 4 months and all blockbuster releases being moved back I think it’s just confirmed to us how much we enjoy cinema as a type of media. 

We’re planning to release a review once a week and aiming for a Sunday evening at 6pm GMT/BST. The key word being aiming. 

Just a side note, that I went to Cineworld on the first opening day and was able to catch the film ‘Misbehaviour’ and it was the perfect reintroduction. The film was a 9/10 and would highly recommend it!
